Our Solid Shampoo Packaging

Packaging waste is a massive worldwide problem. 40% of global waste is due to plastic packaging, unnecessary 'over packaging' when we consume products, or non-compostable packaging, even for products labelled as "eco-friendly".

From the very start of Minimal Organics our goal was to minimise waste at every stage from manufacturing, packaging distribution, to the product itself. This meant a lot of researching, trials and adaptations over the past years.

After reviewing various eco-friendly options for our solid shampoos, we chose to we use a non tree-based paper packaging; sugarcane fibre.

Sugarcane fibre packaging is renewable, biodegradable, and compostable:

  • Renewable – Bagasse (sugarcane fibre) packaging production is a way to Upcycle agricultural byproduct that would otherwise be disposed as waste.

  • Biodegradable – Sugarcane fibre can fully biodegrade within 30-90 days.

  • Compostable – Within 60 days bagasse can be composted entirely. When composted, bagasse can be repurposed as a natural fertiliser rich in nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, and calcium.

Our sugarcane packaging comes from Colombia, and it is certified in promoting and supporting local farming ecological alternatives, ethical farming, as well as allowing a reduction of agricultural waste.

On top of this we have streamlined all of our labels and packaging to avoid 'over packaging' and ensure the minimal amount of waste is provided when you buy our shampoos. They are all packaged in a simple sugarcane fibre box, which is ideal to keep the consistency and quality of the shampoo intact. There is no extra paper, no stickers, or glue. And you can reuse the box for travelling with your solid shampoo or repurpose anyway you like !
